Eddie Van Halen 1984, hand-drawn performing with his 1984 Kramer on August 18, 1984 at the Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington, England, age 29.
This would be David Lee Roth’s final appearance with Van Halen in the UK.
Edward Lodewijk Van Halen was an American musician and songwriter.
He was the main songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist of the rock band Van Halen, which he co-founded in 1972 with his brother, drummer Alex Van Halen, alongside bassist Mark Stone and singer David Lee Roth.
The Kramer was actually built by Eddie himself (one of five guitars) in Kramer’s factory in New Jersey in early 1984, using different parts that he desired to do so, loosely based on the Kramer Pacer.
The Baretta came later, and was heavily based on this guitar, but the Kramer 5150 came first.
The hand-assembled Kramer was used onstage by Eddie during Van Halen’s 1984 and 5150 world tours.
What makes this guitar special, quite apart from the fact that Eddie Van Halen used it for recording purposes and playing on stage, is that there is nothing like it out there today.
The 1984 Kramer sold at auction for $120,000 in 2021.
