Eddie Vedder 1992

Eddie Vedder 1992, hand-drawn fronting Pearl Jam at the Pinkpop Festival on June 8th, 1992 at Landgraaf, Netherlands, age 27.

He’s wearing his Tivoli T-Shirt, named after Tivoli Gardens, also known simply as Tivoli, is an amusement park and pleasure garden in Copenhagen, Denmark.
It is the third-oldest operating amusement park in the world.

Vedder is an American singer, musician, and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist and one of four guitarists of the rock band Pearl Jam.

Pearl Jam was formed in 1990 by Ament, Gossard, and McCready, who then recruited Vedder and three different drummers in sequence.
The band originally took the name Mookie Blaylock, but was forced to change it when they signed to Epic Records in 1991, instead calling their debut album “Ten” after Blaylock’s jersey number.

“Ten” brought the band into the mainstream, and became one of the best selling alternative albums of the 1990s, being certified 13× Platinum.
The band found itself amidst the sudden popularity and attention given to the Seattle music scene and the genre known as grunge.

The Pinkpop Festival is an annual music festival held at Landgraaf, Netherlands. It is usually held on the Pentecost weekend (Pinksteren in Dutch, hence the name). If Pentecost falls on an early date in May, the festival is held later in June.
Starting in 1970, at Burgemeester Damen Sportpark in the city of Geleen, Pinkpop is the oldest and longest running annual dedicated pop and rock music festival in the world.

The name consists of two parts. ‘Pink’ comes from the Dutch word for Pentecost (Pinksteren) and ‘pop’ comes from pop music (or ‘popular music’). But a later creative interpretation for the name combines the English word pink and the Dutch word pop, which means doll, thus forming the origin for the logo, a doll in a pink dress.

On June 8, 1992 Pearl Jam played before one of the biggest crowds in their history up until that point at the Pinkpop Festival in The Netherlands.
All these years later, the set Pearl Jam delivered is still considered one of the best in the long-running festival’s history.
The grunge-rockers were seeing their slow-selling debut, Ten, start to break through thanks to singles such as “Alive,” “Even Flow” and “Jeremy” as well as the group’s extensive touring in support of the album.

Pinkpop 12 song setlist: Even Flow, Why Go (Rain), Jeremy, Deep, Alive, Black, Leash, Once, Porch, Pulled Up (Talking Heads cover), Suggestion (Fugazi cover), Rockin’ in the Free World (Neil Young cover).
