John Scofield Caricature

Nicknamed “Sco” he is an American jazz-rock guitarist and composer whose playing spans bebop, jazz fusion, funk, blues, soul and rock.

He is considered to be one of the top five jazz soloists in the history of the genre.

He also has played and collaborated with Miles Davis, Dave Liebman, Joe Henderson, Charles Mingus, Joey DeFrancesco, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano, Pat Martino, Mavis Staples, Phil Lesh, Medeski Martin & Wood, Jaco Pastorius, John Mayer, Robert Glasper, and Gov’t Mule.

Educated at the Berklee College of Music.

Since the early 1980’s, Scofield has endorsed Ibanez guitars. His signature guitar, the JSM100, is based on his longtime stage and recording guitar, a 1981 Ibanez AS200.
