Peter Frampton Live 1976, hand-drawn performing on his “Frampton Comes Alive!” tour at Wembley Empire Pool (now Arena), London, Saturday October 23, 1976, age 26 with his black Les Paul Custom which he had named “Phenix”.
Peter Kenneth Frampton is an English rock musician, singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist. He was previously associated with the bands Humble Pie and the Herd.
Frampton is known for his work as a guitar player, particularly with a talk box and his voice.
In 1969, when Frampton was 18 years old, he joined with Steve Marriott of Small Faces to form Humble Pie, he left the band in 1971.
As a solo artist, Frampton released several albums including his international breakthrough album on January 6, 1976, the live release Frampton Comes Alive!
The album sold more than 8 million copies in the United States and spawned several hit singles: “Breaking All the Rules”, “Show Me the Way”, “Baby, I Love Your Way”, and “Do You Feel Like We Do”.
The double album was released in the US with a reduced list price of $7.98, only $1.00 more than the standard $6.98 of most single-disc albums in 1976.
Frampton’s following album, I’m in You (1977) contained the hit title single and went platinum.
Frampton suffered a huge setback when he had a near-fatal car accident in the Bahamas in 1978 that marked the end of his prolific period and from which his career never fully recovered.
After the September 11th attacks he became a U.S. citizen. He lives in Nashville.
Frampton was recently diagnosed with a degenerative muscle disease called Inclusion Body Myositis, which affects his ability to play guitar, so he completed his final tour in 2019.
