Simon and Garfunkel 1970, hand-drawn portrait of the duo with Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel both age 29, upon the release of their album “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in 1970.
“Bridge over Troubled Water” was the fifth and final studio album by American folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, released on January 26, 1970, by Columbia Records.
Contemporary critical reception to Bridge was initially mixed, but retrospective reviews of the album have been laudatory, and it is considered by many to be the duo’s best album.
Bridge topped the charts in over ten countries and received six Grammy Awards at the 1971 Grammy Awards, including the Album of the Year.
The album has sold over 25 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time and at the time of its release, the best-selling album ever.
It has been ranked on several “greatest” lists, including number 172 on Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” in 2020.
Despite the accolades, the duo decided to split up, and parted company later in 1970; Garfunkel continued his film career, while Simon worked intensely with music.
Both artists released solo albums in the following years.
Bridge includes two of the duo’s most critically acclaimed and commercially successful songs, “Bridge over Troubled Water” and “The Boxer”, which were listed on Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list.
Bridge over Troubled Water was also the duo’s first album to credit the backing musicians in the liner notes.
The credited musicians were Simon and Fred Carter Jr. on guitars, Hal Blaine on drums, Joe Osborn on bass and Larry Knechtel on keyboards, all of whom were studio session musicians and became famous as Wrecking Crew members.

Archival Conservation Mat is included with your purchase. Mat is a high quality, 4 ply (1/16″) surround mat. These frame mats are acid-free & Lignin-free made with 100% virgin alpha-cellulose surface, core and backing papers. So your caricature with mat will fit into a standard comparable frame either “20” x 24″ or “16” x 20″ depending on the print size, (frame not included). Price also includes a Backer Board.
32″ x 40″ stretch canvas print is produced by Giclee printing process and are hand stretched over heavy duty American made white pine. The canvas print is varnished twice after printing. The canvas prints are ready to hang (complete with hanging wire).
